Enhanced Quick Phrases Functionality Extended to Pixel Buds Pro
Empowering Voice Commands Beyond Pixel Phones
Google’s Quick Phrases feature, initially introduced with the Pixel 6, has seen further expansion, now extending its capabilities to Pixel Buds Pro. This functionality enables users to execute voice actions for alarms, timers, and calls without the need for the “Hey Google” wake phrase on Pixel phones and Pixel Buds.
Pixel Buds Pro Integration:
Quick Phrases, previously limited to Pixel phones and tablets for alarms and timers, now includes Pixel Buds Pro. Answering and declining calls is seamlessly managed by the headphones, not solely relying on the proximity of the connected Pixel device. While the settings explicitly mention Pixel Buds Pro, our testing revealed compatibility with the A-Series as well.
Recent Updates:
Google recently updated the Assistant settings page, specifically indicating the devices each command is available on. Despite this feature partially going live last year, the acknowledgment on the settings page is a recent development. It’s worth noting that Google’s official support article for Quick Phrases does not mention this expansion, and the Pixel Buds documentation only discusses the traditional one-tap gesture for answering calls.
Potential for More:
While the extension of Quick Phrases to Pixel Buds Pro is a noteworthy enhancement, users might hope for more versatility in voice commands. The current preset options include commands for alarms, lights, timers, time, and weather. Earlier developments hinted at the possibility of creating custom Quick Phrases, but this has yet to materialize fully.
