Google Introduces Optimized Chrome Browser for ARM-Based Windows PCs, Promising Faster Performance
Google has recently unveiled a new version of its Chrome web browser specifically tailored for Windows PCs powered by ARM-based Snapdragon CPUs. This latest release aims to deliver enhanced browsing experiences by leveraging the capabilities of the new hardware and operating systems.
According to Qualcomm president and CEO Cristiano Amon, this optimized Chrome browser will further solidify Snapdragon X Elite’s position as the leading platform for Windows computing, particularly starting from mid-2024. The Snapdragon X Elite chipset boasts impressive specifications, including 12 Oryon cores, which Qualcomm claims will offer double the performance compared to Intel’s 13th-gen Core i7-1360P and i7-1355U processors. Additionally, Qualcomm asserts that the X Elite chipset consumes approximately 68% less power, promising significant improvements in battery life for users.
One of the notable features of the ARM-based version of Chrome is the integration of Google’s generative AI feature called Help Me Write. This feature assists users in initiating or refining their writing tasks, providing a helpful tool for content creation and editing. Moreover, users will have access to thousands of Chrome extensions and themes, enhancing the customization options and functionality of the browser.

However, it’s essential to note that the Snapdragon X Elite chipset is not slated for release until mid-2024. As a result, users interested in experiencing the optimized Chrome browser may need to wait until the availability of Windows PCs powered by the new chipset. Fortunately, Microsoft’s rumored Surface 6 and Surface Pro 10 are expected to offer consumer variants equipped with the Snapdragon X Elite chipset by May, providing potential options for interested users.
Despite the current limited availability of ARM-based Windows PCs, Google appears optimistic about the growing adoption of such devices in the future. As a testament to its commitment, Google has announced that users can expect to download the ARM-based version of Chrome later this week, signaling its readiness to support the evolving landscape of Windows computing.
